Brighton respond to NUFC’s second bid for Dan Burn as Eddie Howe eyes two CB’s – The Athletic

Brighton have REJECTED Newcastle United’s latest bid for Dan Burn, according to The Athletic.

After an initial £8m bid was rebuffed by the Seagulls earlier this week, they report that our second offer – believed to be £10m plus add-ons – has also been knocked back in the last few moments.

Burn is believed to be keen on a move to Tyneside, eyeing a return to his boyhood club, but it’s said that Brighton feel our latest bid isn’t enough for a regular starter who is currently in the form of his life.

Chris Waugh (The Athletic) claims that the 29-year-old is now Eddie Howe’s ‘top centre-back target’ after both Sevilla and Lille made it clear that Diego Carlos and Sven Botman won’t be sold this month.

Interestingly, the same piece insists that we are still pushing to bring in TWO new centre-backs before Monday’s 11pm deadline, so we’ll have to hope our third bid for Burn is deemed acceptable now we have just over 48 hours to do business.

Like the Chris Wood deal, this may be another transfer where we have to pay slightly over the odds to get it done…

  1. Brighton part of the ‘We won’t deal with Newcastle United’ cartel?
These clubs are not looking to the future and will suffer eventually for their childish attitude.

Or maybe it’s just that with Dunk & Duffy out injured they aren’t flush on CBs and don’t want to be left sort themselves
