Guimaraes to stay in Brazil after signing for NUFC as Sky Sports confirm he’s passed medical

It really is happening folks! Bruno Guimaraes’ move to Newcastle United looks set to be announced any minute now.

Sky Sports have confirmed in the last few moments that the 24-year-old has now passed his medical and will be unveiled as a Newcastle United player imminently, with official confirmation expected soon from both clubs.

It seems he won’t be heading straight to Tyneside, however, as Sky’s Pete Graves has revealed that he will stay in South America and play for Brazil on Wednesday before heading to the UK on Thursday (at the earliest) to meet his new Newcastle Untied teammates.

Ironically, he will come up against Miguel Almiron when playing for his country on Wednesday, with Brazil set to face Paraguay in their latest World Cup Qualifier.

What a signing this promises to be.

A huge coup for the club and a real marquee signing for our new owners, with Guimaraes one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe right now.

Let’s hope he comes through Wednesday’s game with no problems and is fit to face Everton and week on Tuesday!
