Newcastle United have confirmed that Toon talent Joe White has sealed a loan move to League Two side Hartlepool.
The highly-rated 19-year-old leaves for some much needed experience at senior level after signing a new deal on Tyneside this week, securing his future at St James’ Park just as some feared he could leave for nothing this summer.
Eddie Howe recently admitted that he’s been ‘really impressed’ by the midfielder – who has been training with the first team – and hinted yesterday at a couple of loan moves for a few of our young talents.
The Athletic report that fellow U23 stat Elliot Anderson is expected to join Championship side Luton Town on loan, while Matty Longstaff has been linked with Oxford after a disappointing spell with Abderdeen was cut short.
Here’s what Howe had to say when asked about potential outgoings yesterday:
“Definitely with a couple of younger players, we’re happy to get them some game time by sending them on loan.
“If there’s anyone more senior than that, it would depend on incomings.”
“We’ll make the right decisions on that closer to the window shutting when we know where we are.
“We have to get that balance right, especially with the younger players, but the majority of the squad will stay intact.”
Good luck to White. I went to Burton away (pre-season) last year and he impressed, being a tall and elegant attacking midfielder who wasn’t shy in showing for the ball.
Let’s hope we comes back a better player after half-a-season of senior football in League Two!
