NUFC flop set to be the first of many deadline day exits & Woodman medical revealed – Reports

It looks like there could be several outgoings at St James’ Park on deadline day, with Jeff Hendrick and Freddie Woodman closing in on moves away.

Sky Sports have confirmed that Jeff Hendrick is in talks over a loan move to Middlesbrough, which could see him link up with former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder on Teeside.

Keith Downie – Sky’s North-East correspondent – says that Newcastle need to trim their squad to allow for the arrivals of Guimaraes, Burn and others who could sign on deadline day, as Eddie Howe will need to name a new 25-man squad for the second half of the 2021/22 season soon.

Elsewhere, the BBC’s Kris Temple reports that Freddie Woodman has agreed a loan move to another promotion-chasing Championship side in Bournemouth.

He is expected to undergo a medical at the Vitality Stadium on Monday and will link up with former Mag Scott Parker on the South Coast – completing a move that looked all set to go ahead last summer, only for issues with Dubravka (injury) and Darlow (COVID) to scupper any deal.

Here’s updates on both from Sky’s Keith Downie and the BBC’s Kris Temple:

Hendrick may have arrived on a free 18 months ago, however he’s offered so little and will be on big wages after arriving on a Bosman.

As for Woodman, he needs game time after struggling when handed a chance by Steve Bruce over the first few weeks of the season and could benefit from six-months at Eddie Howe’s old club.

Elsewhere, Elliot Anderson has received loan interest from Luton Town an Sheffield Wednesday, while the likes of Dwight Gayle, Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie, Emil Krafth and Matty Longstaff are a few others who may well be available if the right offer comes in?
