Saint-Maximin reacts to Bruno Guimaraes’ arrival at NUFC – Six words that say it all…

Allan Saint-Maximin has taken to social media to react to Bruno Guimaraes’ arrival at Newcastle United,

The Frenchman’s post on Instagram was short but sweet, saying – “What a player. Welcome my friend!

As a former Ligue 1 star, Saint-Maximin will know all about Guimaraes’ form in France, with him one of the top performing midfielders in Europe and a current Brazilian international as a result.

After all, he is is one of only three players in Europe’s top 5 leagues (based on 10+ starts) to average 1.5+ tackles, 1.5+ dribbles, 1.5+ key passes and 1.5+ fouls won per game this season, while only Dimitri Payet (Marseille) and Kylian Mbappe (PSG) have created more chances from open play than the 24-year-old!

Here’s ASM’s post on social media just a few moments ago:

Here’s how others at Newcastle United have reacted to the Brazilian’s arrival, starting with Eddie Howe:

Eddie Howe on Guimaraes:

“Bruno is a hugely exciting talent and has been one of our primary targets so I’m delighted to secure him.

He strengthens the group immediately ready for the challenge ahead.

“He has been one of the standout performers in France and is a full international for Brazil so I have no doubt our supporters will really enjoy watching him.

We look forward to welcoming him to the club on his return from international duty.”

Mehrdad Ghodoussi on Guimaraes:

Thank you to all involved – a huge welcome to Bruno!!!

Jamie Reuben on Guimaraes:

‘Welcome to the @NUFC family Bruno.’

  1. What a signing for Newcastle! I guess 2 players will definitely be benefited by his excellent passing skills, namely Callum Wilson and Saint Maximum. Jeolinton will also learn from him a lot. With him at the helm, I am confident that Newcastle will be a lot safer especially under the scenario where they might be forced to play on their own half. I REALLY HOPE THAT WE’LL BE THE FIRST TO REACH SAFETY and to build on this platform with European challenges in years ahead.

  2. While I appreciate your faith in those stats Olly one stat you failed to mention is that he has scored only 6 goals in 117 games as a professional.
Add that to the fact that Wilson is crock and Wood, Joelinton, ASM and Miggy are hardly prolific,
I seriously hope we manage to bring in at least one quality striker before the transfer deadline.
