Jamal Lewis now one of seven NUFC players who could seal late deadline day move – Reports

For all the talk of incomings, it looks like there could be plenty leaving Newcastle United between now and 11pm.

The Athletic’s Chris Waugh reports that we are prepared to loan out Jamal Lewis ahead of Matt Targett’s imminent arrival.

This would be a surprise to see him leave, as he impressed under Howe prior to a hamstring injury picked up at Liverpool, however the club may be keen to see him gain regular first-team football – and create space in our 25-man squad for new signings.

Elsewhere, Peter O’Rourke reports that Middlesbrough are trying to sign Ciaran Clark today, with this coming after Sky Sports confirmed yesterday that Boro were in talks with Jeff Hendrick.

Freddie Woodman is edging closer to a loan move for Bournemouth – a club he almost joined last summer. Lee Ryder has revealed that he’s currently undergoing his medical at the Vitality, so that one looks all but done.

Elliot Anderson is also expected to leave on loan. Championship side Luton were expected to sign him, however they need to create room for his arrival, meaning Northampton and Fleetwood could step in, according to The Mail’s Craig Hope.

Matty Longstaff is another who may go out for first-team football following his recall from Aberdeen, with Oxford the latest side linked.

Last but not least, Dwight Gayle is expected to leave if Hugo Ekitike seals a deadline day move to Tyneside, with The Mirror reporting that Nottingham Forest are one of several interested Championship sides.
