New signing spotted on Tyneside – Two deals imminent & third close to take spending to £115m

The Telegraph are reporting that Matt Targett has completed a move to Newcastle United – just moments before Sky Sports footage captured the left-back arriving on Tyneside!

Luke Edwards claims that he AND Dan Burn have now sealed move to St James’ Park, insisting that official confirmation from the club is now imminent.

As a result, he reports that our January spending will go up to a whopping £115m should we also land Hugo Ekitike – the Reims striker who we struck a £25m deal to sign earlier this morning.

Back to Targett, Sky Sports claim that it will be a loan deal that includes an option to buy the left-back at the end of the season, with Aston Villa allowing him to leave following Lucas Digne’s arrival from Everton.

Targett was actually named players’ player of the season at Villa Park last year – which shows his quality given the sort of form Emi Martinez, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins all showed last season.

Here’s Sky Sports footage of the 26-year-old arriving at the club’s Benton training base just moments ago:

  • Kieran Trippier – £12m
  • Chris Wood – £25m
  • Bruno Guimaraes – £40m
  • Dan Burn – £13m
  • Matt Target – Loan with option to buy?
  • Hugo Ekitike – £25m

So, it seems Targett and Burn are imminent and Ekitike is expected to follow if we can get all the formalities done before 11pm.

What a window this is turning out to be!
