Call me crazy, but I decided to stay up late last night to see if I could catch a glimpse of Bruno Guimaraes as Brazil took on Miguel Almiron’s Paraguay in the latest round of World Cup Qualifiers in South America.
The game kicked off at half past midnight and Bruno wasn’t named in the starting 11, however his 20 minute cameo from the bench was well worth the wait.
Not only did he look energetic, mobile and so calm and classy in possession, he bagged a late assist to round off the scoring in an emphatic 4-0 win for Brazil.
Watch it below, showing him start the attack from deep before arriving late into the box to put it on a plate for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo:
In truth, he touched the ball more in 20 minutes than Almiron did across the full 90 – and I don’t remember him losing it once.
His passing was inch perfect, his confidence on the ball clear to see and his box-to-box ability evident based on the role he played in Brazil’s fourth, with two of their goals coming while he was on the field.
Here’s him replacing Phillipe Coutinho – who also scored a stunner on the night – in the 72nd minute:
Next up for our new £40m man, a flight to Tyneside so he can link up with his new Toon teammates!
What a signing this looks set to be.
These Brazilians seem decent at the old football 😎
