Exciting striker spotted at SJP in first-team training after 17 goals in his last 17 games – Photo

Michael Ndiweni could be a name we hear a lot more of over the coming years at Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old striker has been in stunning form over the past year and has clearly caught Eddie Howe’s eye in the process, with him being selected to train with the first team at St James’ Park over the weekend.

Not only did he end the 2020/21 season with five goals in his final four games for the U18s, he’s banged in 12 goals in 13 games this term – taking his tally up to 17 goals in his last 17 appearances in a black and white shirt.

He’s recently been promoted to our U23 setup as a result, but has gone one step further by being invited to train with the senior side at St James’ Park over the weekend.

He seems highly unlikely to be called up to first team action just yet, but with Callum Wilson sidelined, Dwight Gayle rarely fit and Chris Wood our only other available striker, he could become an option for Howe before too long should he continue to impress.

Let’s hope he can take his U18 form to U23 level and beyond over the coming months.
