Ryan Fraser has revealed the huge influence Kieran Trippier is having on his Toon teammates – both on and off the pitch.
The England international was arguably the best player on the pitch in our 3-1 win over Everton, not only setting up our all important equaliser and scoring a superb free-kick, but snapping into tackles, leading by example and showing that air of calm in possession we’ve so often lacked.
Fraser, who also bagged a goal and an ‘assist’ (winning the free kick for Trippier’s goal), has described the former Atletico Madrid man as a “monster” on the pitch, explaining how he’s not only ‘unbelievable’ to play alongside but also a huge influence in the dressing room already.
The Scott says he’s lifted morale in the dressing room and raised standards within the squad, striving to ‘make everyone better.’
Speaking to NUFC TV after Tuesday’s win, here’s what Fraser had to say about our January recruit:
“I’ve got to say, Kieran, since he’s come to the club, with me, everyone, he’s been unbelievable,”
“Not just on the pitch. Obviously his performances have been top, top top.
“But off the pitch, I can’t praise him any higher.
“Small things, like getting the lads’ morale up, making everyone better.
“Obviously I’ve been playing with him for a short time on the right, two smallest players on the field but I feel like I’m playing with a monster beside me.
“That’s what he brings.”
It already feels like Kieran Trippier can become what Vincent Kompany was to Man City soon after their big money takeover.
A leader and flag bearer that sets the standard in everything he does, with him adding that air of calm and steely determination to a previously timid Toon side.
Let’s just hope he can shake off that calf injury in time for Sunday’s game!
