Toon set to go back in for THREE January targets & Amanda Staveley excited by Ashworth – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle plan to reignite their interest in Sven Botman, Diego Carlos and Jesse Lingard if we stay up.

All three were heavily linked with moves to St James’ Park in January, but moves for the trio ultimately failed as Lille, Sevilla and Man Utd played hardball.

As a result, Lee Ryder reports that we will ‘quickly move on to others’ if Lille and Sevilla continue to mess us about, while the same may be true with Lingard if he wants to keep his options when he becomes a free agent this summer.

It’s also said that we are placing an emphasis on players entering the end of their contracts, as well as those with release clauses or relegation escape clauses ahead of the summer, knowing this could give us leverage in negotiations after our new owners were messed around by certain clubs in January.

Elsewhere, the same piece reveals why Amanda Staveley is so ‘excited’ to work with incoming Technical Director Dan Ashworth.

The Chronicle claim that she sees the 50-year-old as ‘the best in his trade’ in the Premier League, showing just how highly-rated the former Brighton and England man is, feeling his arrival will lay the foundations for a bright future on Tyneside.

Ashworth is currently on gardening leave and looks set to be appointed once the two clubs agree a compensation fee following his resignation at the Amex.

Ashworth is deemed as the best in his trade in the Premier League by United’s new owners and Amanda Staveley and co are excited about the prospect of working with him.

  1. No matter what happens this season isn’t it a breath of fresh air having owners and management so enthused with the club the area and the supporters, a far cry from the media and those south of York who think the North East will not attract anyone of consequence.
