Another NUFC fixture at risk of being postponed – but it could be good news for Eddie Howe…

Newcastle United are facing a manic March, being due to play Brighton, Southampton, Chelsea, Everton and Crystal Palace in the space of 15 days as things stand.

However, that final game – a home clash with Crystal Palace on March 20th – is far from certain to go ahead.

Put simply, it will be postponed if Crystal Palace beat Stoke City in their FA Cup clash on March 1st, as the Eagles will have a cup Quarter Final to play that weekend should they beat the Potters next week.

Our meeting with Patrick Vieira’s men was initially scheduled to be a 3pm kick off on Match 19th, however the Premier League announced today that it’s been moved to a 2pm kick off on March 20th (Sunday) should it go ahead.

That said, with Palace heavy favourites to beat Stoke – a mid-table Championship side with one win in seven – it seems highly likely that this date change could be well in vain and it’s postponed for a later date.

Here’s our upcoming fixtures as things stand:

  • Brentford (A) – Saturday 26th February, 3pm
  • Brighton (H) – Saturday 5th March, 3pm
  • Southampton (A) – Thursday 10th March, 7.30pm
  • Chelsea (A) – Sunday 13th March, 2pm (Sky Sports)
  • Everton (A) – Thursday, 17th March, 745pm (Amazon Prime)
  • Crystal Palace (H) – Sunday, 20th March – 2pm

Hopefully Palace win and it’s postponed to give ourselves a much needed break following what promises to be a hectic March for Eddie Howe and the squad.

Not only that, playing the Palace game at a later date might just give the likes of Trippier and Wilson a chance of featuring…
