Saint-Maximin filmed at gym wearing full NUFC kit as Howe hopes for double boost at Brentford

Allan Saint-Maximin has posted a video on social media of him working hard in the gym…in his full Newcastle United kit!

The Frenchman missed our 1-1 draw at West Ham over the weekend with a calf injury, seeing Jacob Murphy take his place on the left wing.

There were fears he’d be out for ‘2-3 weeks’, however Eddie Howe admitted after the game that it doesn’t look like anything serious – insisting the 24-year-old was in contention to play at the London Stadium at one point.

So, after a week’s rest and a return to the gym this week, The Chronicle report that there’s ‘hope’ he’ll be fine for Saturday’s trip to Brentford, with Javier Manquillo another player Howe could have back if he overcomes an ankle injury sustained in that 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

Here’s a clip of Saint-Maximin in a local gym in his full kit, with some of this footage shared on his Instagram story last night!

Here’s what Eddie Howe had to say about Saint-Maximin’s absence after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham:

“He got a kick on his calf against Villa – I think you saw him limping towards the end of the game,”

“He didn’t train this week. We hoped he’d been fit, but, obviously, he didn’t make the game.

Hopefully nothing too serious, but it was enough to keep him out today.”
