NUFC loan star at it again – Bags goal, assist and Man of the Match award in stunning display

Last week I brought you the blog about Elliot Anderson getting an assist and a Man of the Match award in midweek for Bristol Rovers at home in a 2 – 0 win over Sutton United.

The Newcastle United loanee went even better on Saturday with another MOTM, an assist AND a goal in the 4 – 0 away win at Stevenage!

In a really, really impressive performance his statistics were excellent ; 1 goal – 1 assist – 5 shots (most by any player) – 96 touches (more than anyone else) – 61 completed passes (most) – 4 key passes (most) – 1 dribble completed and 1 tackle won.

Some effort that and it has the blue side of the City of Bristol sitting up and taking notice as since Anderson’s arrival they’ve launched a late bid to make the play-offs after spending most of the season mid-table and below.

A lot was expected of the Toon youngster when he went to a L2 side as most had predicted that he would go to a Championship side and was good enough for that level. But Anderson wanted to play and wanted minutes and with ex-Mag Joey Barton in charge of ‘The Gas’, he saw an opportunity.

Comments like ‘Can We Have Him Next Season?’ and ‘Let’s Hope Newcastle Stay Up As Then They Might Let us Have Him Again,’ are the sort of statements and comments been made by the fans of Rovers. They may well have a chance if the performances keep coming like this.

However, even a team of superstars and a Club that can pay enormous transfer fees can find a place for a homegrown talent if that talent is good enough. Don’t believe me? Then I give you Manchester City and Phil Foden. Anderson may not be at that level yet but the sky seems to be the limit for a talented boy.

  1. Give him 6 months next season in League 1 then second half of the season in the Championship.
Then we’ll see how he’s doing.
If Rovers go up let him stay with them – good for his confidence – but not looking likely.
Let’s not forget Armstrong, Toney and Mitro (and Gayle). Superstars in the Championship, fizzled out in the Prem.

You can hardly compare him to Foden. Foden had played 40 times in the Prem by the time he was Anderson’s age, and Anderson’s only just making it in the 4th division.

By the way – I love the way you make a big thing about taking credit for “bringing us” somebody else’s blog!
    That’s funny.
