New injury concern emerges, but Eddie Howe set to have key player back for Brentford – Report

According to The Chronicle, Ryan Fraser is set to be assessed by club medics this week after picking up a ‘muscle injury’ over the weekend.

The same report has shared a positive update on Allan Saint-Maximin, however, with Lee Ryder stating that the Frenchman is expected to return to Eddie Howe’s squad for Saturday’s trip to Brentford.

He also claims that the 24-year-old was ‘rested’ for our 1-1 draw with West Ham due to a calf knock he picked up the previous weekend, meaning he should be back to face the Bees.

As for Fraser, he pulled up in the 79th minute just after he did brilliantly to stop Nikola Vlasic pulling clear on the counter attack.

Howe stated after the game that he complained about some soreness in his hamstring, but was hoping that was simply down to ‘fatigue or cramp.’

However, with The Chronicle claiming he’s set to be assessed with a ‘muscle injury’, it seems the transformed Scot – who has been a breath of fresh air since Howe got the job – may be an early doubt for Saturday’s crucial clash with Brentford.

His energy, passion, creativity and pace will be missed if he is to sit this one out, although a clearer update on his situation should arrive in the coming days.

It’ll be interesting to see if he’s spotted in the club’s official training pictures on Thursday, with Eddie Howe also set to give an update on the injury front during Friday’s press conference.

Fingers crossed both he and Javier Manquillo are OK and able to make the game – which could see us move above the Bees with TWO games in hand should we win!

  1. Joe Willock may deputize for Fraser while Burno can takeover the mid-field vacancy left by Joe. I fancy someone in the middle of the park have to also cover/assist the RB occupied by either Manquillo or Krafth. A win is on the horizon if St Maximum/Wood fires, and everything works well at the back.

  2. Murphy on the right if maxi returns, I would not move Willock, I would not change the midfield (they’re unbeaten in 6, why change it?) Bruno on the bench again for me, Krafth, the sooner he is out the team the better, he’s on par with Clarke for me. But the key thing for me is don’t play someone out of position if you have someone who can actually play in that position. Think Ritchie when Lewis was available, that didn’t exactly work out did it. I saw someone else suggest Bruno on rw, he’s a def midfielder, not a winger, Willock is a midfielder, not a winger and not a wide midfielder. We need to just keep our feet on the ground and keep it simple as we have done over the last 6 games. I fancy us to get a draw at the very least on Sat, could be a great weekend for us getting out of trouble if we can get a result. I never in a million years thought we had any chance of survival after the Watford match. So to be in this position is nothing short of a miracle on Howes part. We as fans need to quit the focus on Bruno and support the team. It doesn’t matter if Bruno plays or not if we get a result. He’s new to the country, new to the league, and new to the team. He needs time and Howe is managing this perfectly and affording him that time. When he does break into the side I would imagine he will be a big player for us.
