Surprise sacking now imminent as NUFC’s relegation rivals line up replacement – Report

As reported by The Athletic, there is now a ‘growing expectation’ Marcelo Bielsa will be sacked as Leeds United manager following a poor run of results.

Former RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch is believed to be the leading candidate to take over the role.

Leeds’ most recent defeat to Tottenham has cast doubt over the future of the Argentinian coach, with Tottenham’s 4-0 win over the Whites coming after they were battered 6-0 at Liverpool in midweek.

Bielsa’s team has now conceded 20 goals in their last five premier league games; a run that’s seen them pick up just one point from a possible 15.

The team also sit way down in 16th, just two points above a Burnley side who have two games in hand on them. They have also played one game more than Newcastle, yet lie two points behind Eddie Howe’s in-form Mags.

Marsch had been discussed to take over in the summer should Bielsa leave, but it looks like those plans have been moved forwards.

A risky move replacing a manager like Bielsa – who has generally worked wonders with a pretty average group of players – so late in the season?
