NUFC’s unsung hero joins £40m man in Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the week

Following a 2-0 victory over Brentford, Alan Shearer has named Ryan Fraser alongside teammate Joelinton in his Premier League team of the week.

While Joelinton has received deserved praise for his incredible rise from £40m flop to midfield dynamo under Eddie Howe, Ryan Fraser’s transformation has gone somewhat under-the-radar around the league.

In a man of the match performance, the Scotsman created SEVEN chances against the London side – more than any other player in the league over the weekend – and was described as a “constant threat” by Shearer in his Saturday night analysis on MOTD.

While the winger did manage one assist for Joelinton’s opener, there was every chance he could’ve had two or three more on another day, with Bees goalkeeper David Raya forced into making nine saves.

He played a crucial part in breaking down Brentford’s defence and has proven to be one of the key players behind our rise to form under Eddie Howe; a manager who knows him well from their time together at Bournemouth.

Here’s Shearer’s Premier League team of the week in full, seeing Fraser and Joelinton selected alongside the likes of Declan Rice, James Ward-Prowse and Harry Kane:
