Santiago Munoz has been pictured training with the Newcastle United first-team on Wednesday, however it looks like Allan Saint-Maximin was absent once again.
The Frenchman posted a video on Instagram with the caption “I’m back @NUFC” earlier this week, but the fact he’s nowhere to be seen in the latest set of training photos suggests he’s facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s game against Brighton.
He picked up a calf injury during last month’s win over Aston Villa and hasn’t been involved in either of our last two games, being spotted receiving treatment in Monaco while others trained on Tyneside.
As for those involved in yesterday’s session, Santiago Munoz was handed the chance to impress Howe alongside fellow Toon talents Adam Wilson, Mo Sangare, Charlie Wiggett and Isaac Westendorf.
The young Mexican arrived on an initial 18-month loan move on deadline day last August, yet only started his first PL2 game for the U23s in a 4-3 win over Norwich earlier this week.
