Allan Saint-Maximin injury update arrives from Eddie Howe ahead of Brighton clash – Video

Eddie Howe has issued an update on Allan Saint-Maximin’s fitness ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Brighton at St James’ Park.

He’s revealed that the 24-year-old still hasn’t trained with the group so far this week, but is expected to rejoin sessions today.

As a result, another late assessment will be made on the winger’s fitness following a two-week absence that saw him receive some ‘intensive treatment’ on his calf back in France, with Howe set to assess his condition after training on Friday.

Aside from that, the NUFC boss says the injury situation is the same as it was last weekend, meaning we have no new knocks going into tomorrow’s game.

Here’s what Howe had to say on ASM’s hope of being back for Brighton:

“Maxi hasn’t trained with us yet.

“We’re hoping he does today, but we’ll have to make a decision based on how he looks and his injury status after that training session.

“Aside from that, I think we’re as we were with team fitness pre-Brentford.”

Given he wasn’t even close to making last week’s game – Howe’s words not mine – it feels like he’ll be back on the bench at best for this one; even if he does come through training OK today.
