According to new reports, Newcastle are one of several Premier League clubs showing interest in Middlesbrough’s Dael Fry.
Writing for Planet Sport, former Sky Sports reporter Graeme Bailey claims the centre-back could be on the move this summer should Boro fail to earn promotion, with ourselves, Burnley, Brighton and Wolves all showing interest.
The 6ft 4′ defender has shone ever since the arrival of Chris Wilder – who has put the North East side in play-off contention with 30 points from his first 16 games.
Fry, 24, has been a dominant presence in the air and on the ground in the past few months – helping to keep five clean sheets in the last 13 games and guide them to the quarter finals of the FA Cup with heroic displays in wins over Man Utd and Spurs.
With just one centre-back signing made in January and all of our current options in or around their 30’s, a move for the former England U21 international could make sense – especially when the likes of Clark, Fernandez and Dummett could be moved on this summer.
