Confirmed NUFC team vs Southampton – Joelinton & Saint-Maximin missing, but Bruno starts!

Following our 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday, we take on Southampton tonight in the first of three away games coming up over the next seven days.

The team news has arrived ahead of the 7.30pm kick off, seeing us line up as follows:

STARTING 11: Dubravka – Krafth, Schar, Burn, Targett – Willock, Shelvey, Guimaraes – Murphy, Wood, Fraser.

SUBS: Darlow, Dummett, Lascelles, Manquillo, Ritchie, Longstaff, De Bolle, Almiron, Gayle.

So, Eddie Howe has made one change, handing Bruno Guimaraes his first start for the club following his £35m move from Lyon in January.

The concerning news is that Joelinton – the man Bruno has replaced – and Allan Saint-Maximin are both absent from the matchday squad.

The Athletic reckon that ASM is missing through illness, while Joelinton’s issue appears to be injury-related – although he’s travelled with the squad and is at St Mary’s tonight, suggesting he might yet be ok for Sunday’s trip to Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Kieran Trippier (foot), Callum Wilson (calf), and Federico Fernandez (side strain) are out through injury, but Matt Ritchie is back on the bench after recovering from a knee problem.

Here’s the side Ralph Hasenhuttl has gone with, seeing Southampton duo Mohamed Salisu and Kyle Walker-Peters return to the starting 11 after missing their 4-0 defeat at Aston Villa over the weekend:
