Member of Saudi-backed consortium now considering surprise new takeover bid – Report

As reported by BNN Bloomberg, Newcastle United director Jamie Reuben is considering a potential bid for fellow Premier league rival Chelsea who were recently put up for sale.

The 34-year-old is part of the Saudi-backed consortium that purchased Newcastle for £300 million back in October 2021, with the Reuben Brothers – involving his dad, David – taking up a 10% stake.

However, the London-based club would prove to be far more costly, with the current owner Roman Abramovich reportedly valuing it at around £3 billion.

The Russian owner is selling the club due to his ties to Vladimir Putin after he purchased it in 2003 for just £60 million.

Given his involvement at Newcastle, the Premier League would have to look into his reported interest as the rules state that you cannot have a 10% or higher share in more than one club in the league.

Reuben is believed to be a boyhood Chelsea fan and has experience at a London-based club from his time in the boardroom at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship.

There would be plenty competition, with a Swiss-American consortium are also rumoured to be highly interested in the club – Reuben is still at an early stage of his consideration and yet to submit a formal bid.

  1. Have you ever thought that ‘he is yet to submit a formal bid’ because he’s not interested and it’s all just rumour?
You’re just helping to feed all this unsubstantiated London anti-Toon propaganda machine.
