Alan Shearer is not a happy man, branding VAR “pathetic” and “nonsensical” after another Premier League weekend full of refereeing errors.
In a scathing attack on the new technology – which he claims to like when used correctly – our former number nine looked visibly angry by the incompetence shown, slating the decision to deny us a stone-wall penalty.
He accepts that Chelsea’s winning goal is a brilliant one, but feels Newcastle Untied were robbed of a point we thoroughly deserved after being let down by poor refereeing and a VAR system he feels isn’t fit for purpose.
An angry Alan Shearer also couldn’t believe Brighton’s Robert Sanchez didn’t see red for his dangerous tackle on Luis Diaz during Liverpool’s 2-0 win on Saturday, saying he’s spoken to “20 or 30 people” about the incident and not one person felt he should’ve stayed on the pitch.
