Newcastle beat off rival interest from Chelsea, Leeds & Wolves to tie down top Toon talent

Newcastle United have announced that highly-rated midfielder Joe White has signed a new deal at the club.

We were at risk of losing the 19-year-old for nothing this summer had no agreement been reached, however an official statement from NUFC has now confirmed he’s signed a three-year-deal to keep him on Tyneside until 2025.

White had been receiving interest from Chelsea, Leeds and Wolves, according to The Mail’s Craig Hope – with SPL giants Celtic and Rangers also said to be monitoring his situation, so it’s good news to see him commit his future to his boyhood club.

The former England U18 international is currently on loan at Hartlepool, gaining some regular game time in League Two alongside fellow Geordies Elliot Anderson (Bristol Rovers) and Matty Longstaff (Mansfield Town).

Here’s what he told NUFC.co.uk after signing a new deal, followed by official photos of him alongside Eddie Howe:

“I’m delighted to have signed until 2025.

It’s been a good few months for the club, it looks like we’re heading in the right direction and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
