NUFC eyeing exciting Swiss international – Club want €25m plus & player ready to leave – Report

According to reports in Germany, Newcastle are ‘interested’ in signing Swiss star Noah Okafor – who is reportedly looking for a move away from RB Salzburg to ‘take the next step.’

Sport BILD claim we’re considering a summer bid for the striker, while fellow German outlet Sport 1 claim he could be available if an offer in excess of €25m arrives.

The 21-year-old forward signed for the Austrian Bundesliga club from FC Basel for around £10 million back in January 2020.

Since signing, Okafor has made 70 appearances for Salzburg across all competitions, scoring 22 and assisting 13 as well as earning three caps for Switzerland National Team.

The Austrian side are notorious for producing young footballing talent, with the likes of Erling Halaand, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Dayot Upemacano all playing for the club at early stages in their careers.

Sport 1 believe Okafor could be the next ‘mega-talent’ and is ready to make a move to a bigger league after two years at Salzburg, with several English and German clubs interested.

With Callum Wilson’s injury troubles and Dwight Gayle looking likely to leave in the summer, Okafor could be the sort of exciting young striker we look at – especially after our January interest in Hugo Ekitike.
