Big claims from Italy: NUFC to make ‘big money bid’ for striker Nickson has scouted since 2019?

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle plan to renew their interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and are preparing to make a ‘big money bid’ for the striker this summer.

We were linked with a move for the Nigerian in January, with the Italian paper claiming we had an offer of around £80m rejected by the Italian giants over the final few days of the winter window.

However, with Premier League safety now looking all but confirmed ahead of what promises to be a huge summer for the club, it’d be interesting to see how Napoli would react if a huge bid arrives for their top scorer.

The 23-year-old broke through at Lille, where he scored 13 in 27 appearances in Ligue 1 before securing himself a £60 million move to Napoli – a club record fee as well as making him the most expensive African transfer.

Back in 2019, The Chronicle reported that head of recruitment Steve Nickson was keeping a close eye on Osihmen during his time at Lille, suggesting we’ve held long-term interest in the forward.

With Nickson still at the club and expected to stay on this summer, it would be no surprise if he remains interested in the striker given his career has only reached new heights since his move to Italy.
