Paul Dummett makes surprise Dwight Gayle claim when quizzed about his NUFC teammates – Video

Paul Dummett claims Dwight Gayle is the best finisher at Newcastle United – not Callum Wilson – also revealing that Leeds’ Raphinha is the toughest opponent he’s faced all season.

Speaking on the Premier League’s fantasy football show, the Geordie defender also named Matt Ritchie as the man most likely to get a yellow card, Allan Saint-Maximin as most likely to get an assist and Jonjo Shelvey the best bet to score a free-kick.

As for Gayle, he was Newcastle’s star-striker in our Championship winning season, scoring 23 goals in 32 games, but has struggled for form since returning to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old has played just four times in the league this season, managing just 27 minutes of action and failing to score in that time.

He has also featured only once under new manager Eddie Howe – a seven-minute cameo in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United – who was looking for a new striker in the January transfer window.

With the club headed for Premier League safety, it looks as though they will resume their search for a new talisman in the summer and Gayle will be moved on to make room in the squad.
