“Newcastle are interested” – Fabrizio Romano reveals summer loan deal being eyed up by NUFC

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Dean Henderson is one of three goalkeepers that Newcastle United are currently monitoring for the summer.

Henderson is yet to make a Premier League appearance for Manchester United this season with David De Gea being the preferred option between the sticks.

It is no secret that the Englishman is after more game time and may be allowed to leave on loan next season with Newcastle identifying him as an early target.

Here’s what he’s had to say, claiming our interest in the 25-year-old dated back to last January:

Henderson spent two seasons on loan at Sheffield United between 2018-20, helping them win promotion to the Premier League as well as a ninth-placed finish in the top-flight – their highest position since 1992.

During his time at Bramall Lane, the 6ft 2 keeper heavily impressed England manager Gareth Southgate and earned his first senior call-up in October 2019, then making his debut for his country in November 2020.

Currently, Martin Dubravka is serving as the No.1 option for Eddie Howe and has been a fairly reliable keeper since his arrival in 2018.

However, the 33-year-old Slovakian international could be replaced in the summer with Howe looking for a more long-term option who is comfortable playing out from the back.
