Watch both goals here as Chris Wood makes history on Monday night in 4-0 win – Video

Newcastle United striker Chris Wood is now the all-time top goalscorer for New Zealand after netting twice in their 4-0 victory over Fiji in a World Cup Qualifier.

The 30-year-old scored a header on the brink of half-time to put his team 1-0 up before slotting home his second in the 73rd minute to secure the record and the three points.

The striker scored his 29th and 30th goal in his 62nd appearance for his country and has now overtaken Vaughan Coveny as the record scorer.

Watch both of his goals on Monday night below:

The Kiwi has struggled for goals in the Premier League since signing for Newcastle in January, scoring just once – against Southampton – in his 10 league appearances for the club.

However, his goal ration of one in every two games for his national side may be enough to help them qualify for their first World Cup since 2010.

The veteran striker has been excellent in terms of work rate and unselfishness since arriving on Tyneside but will hope that his international goalscoring form can carry over to the league once it resumes in April.
