It hasn’t taken long for Amanda Staveley to deliver on another brilliant promise, with Newcastle United Women now set to play at St James’ Park for the very first time in a historic game on May 1st.
NUWFC currently sit top of Division One North after a 12-game winning streak and will face Barnsley on the final day of the 2021/22 season as we target promotion.
Speaking to The Athletic last month, Amanda Staveley said “we want them to play a match there” before the year is out, and it hasn’t taken long for her to deliver on that St James’ Park promise.
Staveley’s vision will soon become a reality with what will be a huge step forwards for the Women’s team, giving them a chance to raise their profile and perform on the biggest stage the city has to offer.
Since their arrival at the club, the owners have proven to have a clear vision for the future and are aiming to improve all aspects of the club rather than just how the men perform – especially with this recent announcement.
The match will take place at 2pm (gates opening at 12:30pm) on the 1st May with concessions being £3 for adults and U16’s go free.
