NUFC hoping to sign AC Milan skipper on bargain deal ahead of Sevilla, Lazio & Juventus – Report

Italian outlet TuttoMercato report that Newcastle have developed interest in AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli ’in recent weeks.’

The defender is out of contract in the summer and appears to be one of several soo-to-be free agents we’re keeping a close eye on in a bid to continue our shrewd spending.

TuttoMercato also report that Lazio, Juventus and Sevilla are also interested in the defender, suggesting we’d face stiff competition for his signature.

The 27-year-old was made captain of the Italian side at the beginning of the 2018-19 Serie A season and has made 246 appearances for the club – so could bring a vast amount of experience and leadership.

Romagnoli has also been part of a Milan side fighting to win their first Serie A title in 11 years this season in a season that saw them reach the last 16 of the Champions League before being knocked out by Liverpool earlier this month.

Ironically, should we sign Romagnoli, he may be replaced at AC Milan by Sven Botman – another summer target who has been heavily linked with a move to the Italian giants in recent weeks.
