Sky Sports reporter claims Newcastle could sign TWO international centre-backs this summer

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie claims Newcastle still plan to “spend big” in the summer on a couple of top centre-backs despite the arrival of Dan Burn.

The North-East reporter believes his £13m arrival from Brighton and impressive form since his arrival won’t stop our bid to sign more defenders in a few months time, predicting that “at least one, if not two, international centre-backs” will be brought in.

Lille star Sven Botman remains one to watch and could be an ideal candidate given his success and experiences at just 22-years-old – winning a title and playing Champions League football – while Sevilla’s Diego Carlos was also heavily linked in January.

Here’s what Downie had to say when speaking to GIVEMESPORT:

“I don’t think what he [Burn] has done will have any impact at all on Newcastle’s plans for the summer.

“I still expect them to spend big, and I expect them to bring in at least one, if not two international centre-backs, even with Dan Burn there.”

Dan Burn has been a revelation for us in defence and has arguably played the biggest role in helping us maintain that nine-game unbeaten run – going from one of the worst defences in the league to one of the best.

However, with the contracts of Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett running out this summer and Federico Fernández’s future in doubt, it seems very possible that there’s plenty comings and goings at centre-back this summer!
