Newcastle set to launch summer bid for Watford star – whether they stay up or not – Report

Back in October last year, The Mail released a big piece claiming that Watford’s Ismaila Sarr had been identified as an early target by Newcastle United’s new owners.

The report stated that we were keen to recruit some of the best players from clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League, however it did warn that the Hornets were ‘unlikely’ to do business with a relegation rival in January.

Fast forward a few months, an ‘exclusive’ released late last night from The Sun’s Charlie Wyett states that the Senegalese winger is back on our radar and someone Eddie Howe is keen to bring to St James’ Park this summer.

It’s his understanding that the 24-year-old will leave Watford at the end of the season whether they stay up or not, believing a fee in the region of £35m may be enough to land the former Rennes star.

Sarr has five goals in 16 Premier League appearances this season, with one of those coming in our 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road back in September last year.
