Sky Sports: NUFC interested in Ligue 1 star – but could face competition from Man Utd and Roma

Newcastle remain interested in signing Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he’ll be one of many high-profile free agents up for grabs in just a few months time.

Sky Sports report that he is being monitored by Manchester United – who are looking to bolster their midfield options – but state that ourselves and Roma are also in the mix for the versatile Frenchman who can also operate at centre-back.

Just last summer, The Athletic reported that Kamara received and rejected deadline day offers from Newcastle and Wolves, deciding instead to remain in Ligue 1 and run down his contract.

So, he wasn’t sold on a move to Mike Ashley’s NUFC last summer, however his stance might just have changed now we have ambitious new owners in place.

That said, he’ll have plenty of options available to him this time around and could demand huge wages when he becomes a free agent, meaning this could be a tough deal to get done – even if his arrival on a ‘free’ would be another great coup for the club.
