New report reveals how NUFC plan to beat West Ham and Aston Villa to Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are willing to offer Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips a £95,000 pay-rise in a bid to beat West Ham and Aston Villa to his signature this summer.

He’s believed to earn £25,000 at Elland Road and it’s claimed our proposed offer of £120,000-per-week could tempt the 26-year-old away from his boyhood club – as any renewal at Leeds would see him earn considerably less.

Phillips has been integral to both Leeds and England in recent years, however a hamstring injury meant he made his first appearance in five months in a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday.

The Yorkshire-born midfielder is also wanted by Aston Villa’s Steven Gerrard, who is believed to have identified Phillips as his top summer target.

West Ham showed serious interest in January and saw a £55 million bid rejected by the Whites, but the London-based club could come back in with a second offer in the next few months.

It’d be a tough battle to win, with him adored at Leeds and likely to be in-demand if he leaves, however the prospect of a midfield featuring Phillips an Guimaraes is an extremely exciting one!

Who cares about an England international we’re reportedly trying to sign? A Newcastle United site may not be for you, Colin 😆 🙄
