Eddie Howe hits back at NUFC theory that’s emerged ahead of tonight’s clash with Wolves

Eddie Howe has rubbished claims that his NUFC squad “think they are safe“, knocking back Sam Allardyce’s suggestion that we were already on the beach during last weekend’s defeat at Spurs.

The former NUFC boss branded our approach to Sunday’s hammering as “an embarrassment“, feeling the players looked more focused on booking their summer holidays than making sure of our Premier League status.

However, Howe hit back at Big Sam’s theory during Thursdays’ press conference, insisting that his squad “care passionately” about their performances and are a “great group” who have trained like a side desperate to put things right when Wolves come to town tonight.

Here’s what the NUFC boss had to say in a staunch defence of his squad’s attitude:

“I am not going to criticise Sam’s comments – he is welcome to his opinion. But absolutely not.

“Absolutely, categorically not.

“If you see how we train and the detail given to the training sessions and the care we have to the players.

“I know looking at the players how much they care. We have a great group we really do.

“They care passionately about performances. We were all upset and disappointed with what we delivered on Sunday.

“So absolutely not, I will knock that back as strongly as I can.”

Here’s a reminder of what Sam Allardyce said after last Sunday’s 5-1 defeat to Tottenham:

“They think they are safe. They have switched off. Gone about where are they going to book their holidays now and I think that’s really bad.

We are talking about recruitment. The business they have done in January has saved the football club.

“That’s new players coming in, the manager handling them, getting them to play better and going on an unbeaten run, but they switched off against Tottenham. It’s the manager’s job to put them on track and give them the biggest telling off since he has been here. It’s an embarrassment that.”

  1. Stick to b0ll0cking your own players … oh sorry, that’s right, nee s0d wants to employ you – maybe think of booking your own summer holiday then.

Funny I must have missed his comments on the likes of Everton who haven’t turned up for the last 10 games – or does super Frank get a pass.

G0bsh!te bitter that Ashley get rid – move on.
