French giant now ‘in Newcastle’s sights’ after outstanding season in Ligue 1 – RMC Sport

According to RMC Sport, Strasbourg centre-back Gerzino Nyamsi is being ‘watched closely’ by Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The French outlet states that the 6ft 5′ defender is ‘in Newcastle’s sights’ and also attracting interest from West Ham, with Napoli also keen after they had a January bid rejected.

The 25-year-old only arrived from Stade Rennais last summer and has played a crucial role in Strasbourg’s superb season in Ligue 1, where they currently sit fourth and in the mix to qualify for Europe.

Nyamsi has made 26 appearances so far this season and is described in the report as one of the top performing centre-backs in France across 2021/22, helping his side maintain the sixth best defence in the division after narrowly avoiding relegation last year.

With the likes of Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez likely to be moved on this summer, the giant Frenchman could be a viable option for a fairly low price and another name to look out for in a few months time.
