Howe eyes 6 signings: Senegalese duo, La Liga star & French whizz-kid all targets – The Athletic

The Athletic report that Eddie Howe is keen to bring in up to SIX new signings this summer – revealing a few names that club scouts have watched closely in recent months.

They report that the signing of a striker is seen as a ‘priority’, but reckon moves for a few attacking midfielders, a centre-back and a goalkeeper are also being discussed behind the scenes.

Chris Waugh claims that increasing the number of goals within the team is seen as ‘crucial’ this summer, so it’s interesting that he named Villarreal star Arnaud Dajnuma as a player we are keen on.

The Dutch winger was brought to Bournemouth by Eddie Howe and has bagged an impressive 14 goals and four assists out in Spain this season – scoring in their Champions League quarter final first leg against Bayern Munich last week.

Elsewhere, The Athletic reveal that Watford’s Ismaila Sarr is another wide man we are ‘known to admire’, with fellow Senegalese international Bamba Dieng (Marseille) named as a striker we have watched out in France.

Staying in Ligue 1, it seems French wonderkid Hugo Ekitike remains a player of interest, having come close to sealing a deadline day move to St James’ Park in January.

While there may be some kidology from Newcastle, who are keen not to be made to overpay because of the wealth of their majority owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the consistent message has been that they are targeting organic growth given Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions.

Still, the consortium will continue to invest, but they will also walk away from inflated deals.
