Lee Ryder claims NUFC could look to sign £58m Brazilian ahead of Arsenal this summer

According to The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, Newcastle could go head to head with Arsenal over a summer move for Brazilian international Lucas Paqueta.

He reports that the 24-year-old attacker is seen as a ‘dream team-mate’ for Bruno Guimaraes, with the pair not only close friends but two players who have linked up superbly for club and country.

It’s believed that Lyon are demanding £58m for their star man this summer – a price that has put off PSG but could leave Newcastle and Arsenal to battle it out for his signature.

Ryder also reveals that Paqueta is a player our head of recruitment Steve Nickson knows ‘very well’, having watched the former AC Milan man on ‘multiple occasions.’

The number 10 has bagged nine goals and six assists in a struggling Lyon side this season, also scoring seven times in 31 appearances for Brazil.

So, after beating Arsenal to a January deal for Bruno Guimaraes, this could well be round two and another transfer battle with the Gunners.

One to watch this summer and a player worth checking out in West Ham’s Europa League clash with Lyon tomorrow night!
