Darwin Nunez sends transfer message to Toon chiefs with yet another goal vs Liverpool

Darwin Nunez was at it again last night, reminding Newcastle United chiefs why he is the striker we should go all out to sign this summer.

After scoring in Benfica’s quarter final first leg against Liverpool, the 22-year-old added to his tally with another clinical finish at Anfield last night.

The goal took him to 32 strikes for the season and six in 10 Champions League appearances, so it’s easy to see why the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been heavily linked with a big money move for the Uruguayan.

Here’s what he told Portuguese TV after Benfica were dumped out at the quarter final stage on Merseyside, followed by his second goal of the tie to make it 3-3:

“I won’t say anything until the last minute of this season.”

Newcastle face an uphill task to bring him to St James’ Park given the level of competition we’ll be up against, but last night was more proof that he’d be brilliant signing and well worth the £60m fee Benfica look set to demand.

  1. Honestly hope this happens ollie but not being in champions league could be the killer blow for us hope I’m wrong and we can sell him the project but to pull four are five style Bruno signings could be bit to much at moment

Agreed mate – I think he’ll definitely want UCL football and will get plenty offers that promise that!
