Newcastle defender Kell Watts helped Wigan edge closer to the League One title earlier this week, producing an incredible goal-line clearance in a valuable draw at Burton Albion.
The 22-year-old centre-back joined The Latics on a season-long loan deal last August and recently signed a new two-year contract on Tyneside – highlighting how his displays in the third tier have impressed Eddie Howe.
Elliot Anderson and Matty Longstaff may have been grabbing the headlines since sealing January loan moves to League Two sides, but Watts is impressing at a higher level and looks set to guide league leaders Wigan back to the Championship.

Here’s what the Alnwick-born defender had to say after signing a new deal on Tyneside back in February:
“I’m absolutely delighted.
“I’ve been at the club since I was eight so I am buzzing to get a new contract.
“All my family are thrilled and I can’t wait to be working with the new manager next season.”
