Paul Merson releases double prediction ahead of Newcastle's trip to Norwich City
Paul Merson believes Newcastle United will come away with a 2-2 draw from Carrow Road this afternoon.
The Sky Sports pundit feels certain it'll be a game of goals, predicting that we'll not only see a high-scoring draw but an "entertaining football match."
He reckons Norwich will play with the shackles off in a game they simply must win to have any chance of pulling off the great escape, yet his comments on Howe's NUFC are slightly bizarre.
Merson says we now have "nothing to play for this season", which is an odd take when you consider we've just put ourselves in with a shout of finishing in the top 10 after three straight wins.
Come away with another at Norwich and we could end the day as high as 9th, so I'm not having it that there's nothing on the line now we've reached the 40 point mark and secured safety.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, here's what he's had to say:
“Norwich are a funny team.
“They played well against Burnley and they were impressive against Manchester United.
“They’ve got nothing to lose and the shackles are off.
“They’ll just go out there and play.
“Newcastle are safe now and they’ve got nothing to play for this season.
“I’d be shocked if this ended in a 0-0 but a draw is a definite possibility.
“This should be an entertaining football match.
Prediction: Norwich City 2-2 Newcastle United.
