It doesn’t look like Ryan Fraser, Kieran Trippier or Callum Wilson will be available for this weekend’s clash with Liverpool.
The Chronicle reported last week that Trippier could be in contention to return after stepping up his recovery from a broken foot, with Wilson also spotted back on the grass and Fraser pushing to play against this season after a second scan on his hamstring showed no serious damage.
However, Howe’s latest comments after Saturday’s 3-0 win over Norwich suggests it may come too soon for all three.
Here’s what he had to say when asked for an update on the injured trio:
“Not sure as we speak.
“I’d probably say no off the top of my head, but we’ll wait and see.”
So, they’ve not been ruled out just yet, but Howe’s response suggests they’re early doubts and unlikely to be risked – especially in a game that will require such a huge effort!
With Fraser and Wilson managing muscle injuries, it wouldn’t surprise me if they aren’t risked and don’t feature in our final four games.
Personally I’d say if we are safe, don’t risk them.
There’s no point.
