TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham has named four Premier League players he’s backing to arrive at St James’ Park this summer.
He reckons we’ll bring Ivan Toney back to the club from Brentford, thinks Southampton star James Ward-Prowse ‘will be wearing a Newcastle shirt next season’ and even thinks we could make moves for Everton duo Richarlison and Jordan Pickford.
The latter seems like a ridiculous suggestion given his Sunderland links and the amount of boos he receives whenever we face Everton, however the other three are all intriguing options.
Toney has shone at Brentford in his first full season in the Premier League, not only bagging 12 goals and four assists but offering a real presence up top. He’s a real handful, looks ice cool in front of goal and is also capable of bringing others into play whenever he drops deep.
Richarlison seems to split opinion, yet he’s another Brazilian international who would improve us, while Ward-Prowse is a master technician and set piece specialist who could be the perfect upgrade on Jonjo Shelvey.
