Dominic Calvert-Lewin has ‘told friends’ he would prefer to join Arsenal over Newcastle United this summer, according to Football Insider.
The Everton striker is expected to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season, whether Frank Lampard’s side beat the drop or suffer relegation to the second tier.
We have been regularly linked with a summer move for the 25-year-old, with The Athletic and The Telegraph crediting us with an interest in the England international.
However, Football Insider reckon he’s already made his preference clear to those close to him, claiming he’d favour a move to North London – unlike a certain Bruno Guimaraes who did the exact opposite just a few months ago!
Given his lack of form – he’s not scored in any of his last 11 appearances for the Toffees – and poor injury record of late, there’s a feeling amongst many fans on Tyneside that we’d be better served looking elsewhere.
Calvert-Lewin is a mobile target man who has already proved he can score goals at this level, but Everton will demand big bucks – whether they survive or not.
If we’re going to spend the majority of our budget on a goal scorer this summer, I’d rather see us look at Darwin Nunez, Patrick Shick or Tammy Abraham.
So he doesn’t want to come, so you didn’t want him anyway?

We don’t want him anyway .. he is injured all the time and was a one season wonder … please go to Arsenal and weaken them instead
