Toon enter race to sign PSG talent after 11-goal season out on loan – Foot Mercato

According to reports in France, Newcastle United have expressed an interest in signing PSG talent Arnaud Kalimuendo.

This comes from Foot Mercato, who claim both ourselves and Leicester City are tracking the 20-year-old forward following his impressive rise to form over the 2021/22 season.

The forward is currently on loan with fellow Ligue 1 side Lens, where he has bagged 11 goals in 34 appearances – making him one of just six U21 players to have scored 10+ league goals in Europe’s top five divisions this term.

With PSG recently selling young talents like Moussa Diaby and Christopher Nkunku too soon for some people’s liking – both have since gone on to shine on the European stage – it remains to be seen what they will do when Kalimuendo returns.

Our alleged interest could make sense, however, as Eddie Howe is believed to be keen on signing a young striker with big potential – hence our interest in Hugo Ekitike – as well as a more proven, senior option this summer.

Kalimuendo can play up top or out wide and has been prolific for France, scoring 14 goals in 24 appearances across U16 and U21 levels.
