Ex-Mag seals Premier League return – but NUFC loanee won’t be so pleased after baffling move

Scott Parker is back in the Premier League with Bournemouth, guiding Eddie Howe’s former club to promotion on Tuesday night.

The ex-NUFC midfielder was also celebrating last night alongside Freddie Woodman – not that the Toon loanee will be impressed by the lack of game time he’s been given since he swapped St James’ Park for the South Coast in January.

He hasn’t kicked a ball in the Championship since the turn of the year, with his only appearance under Parker coming in an FA Cup defeat to Boreham Wood! In all honesty, the whole thing never made much sense when Mark Travers has been AFCB’s number one all season.

Back to last night’s decider, it was a bit of a winner takes all between the Cherries and Steve Cooper’s in-form Forest, with both sides knowing a win would leave them 2nd and in the automatic promotion places heading into the final day of the season this weekend.

Forest couldn’t lose if they wished to go into Saturday’s fixtures with a chance of joining Fulham in the English top flight, but an 83rd minute strike from Kieffer Moore put pay to that, meaning the South-Coast side will be a Premier League club next season for the first time since relegation at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

So, Mitrovic will be lining up against Eddie’s Mag for Fulham, Parker will be back at St James’ Park next season, Howe will face a trip to his former club and as for Woodman? Who knows what’s next for him after what’s turned out to be a pretty pointless loan move.
