According to Italian outlet La Repubblica, Newcastle are now one of the favourites to sign AC Milan attacker Rafael Leão and would be prepared to ‘quadruple his wages.’
The 22-year-old has been integral to the Italian side’s Serie A title push, playing 38 games across all competitions with 13 goals and seven assists to show for his efforts.
With his ability to play both as a winger and up front or in a false nine role, the youngster could certainly help our lack of goals as our current number nine Callum Wilson continues to struggle with recurring injury problems.
Currently, the Portuguese international has a contract until 2024 earning him around €1.5million a year, with the Italian giants willing to increase it up to €4million a year.
However, due to our newfound wealth, we – alongside PSG – are reportedly willing to quadruple his current wages up to about €6million a year making us the “most decisive courtship” according to his agent Jorge Mendes.
