VIDEO – Geordie talent scores stunning goal from 45-yards as U23s end the season on a high

Newcastle winger Tom Allan scored from almost the halfway line as our U23s beat Aston Villa 2-1 to end a run of four successive defeats and conclude their Premier League Two Division Two campaign.

The 22-year-old scored the first goal of the tie in stunning fashion as he lobbed the Villa goalkeeper Oliwier Zych from about 45-yards out before the Birmingham side quickly equalised.

Ultimately, the victory secured an eight-place finish in the league, just one-point off of fifth placed Norwich and a chance to go into the playoffs for promotion to Division One.

The young forward made his first-team debut in a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Rochdale in January 2020, where he came off the bench to assist Joelinton for the fourth goal.

Our 23s will now turn their attention to their final game of the season on Thursday in the Northumberland Senior Cup final at St James’ Park against Blyth Spartans.
