NUFC duo receive Premier League nominations – but has Eddie Howe been unfairly overlooked?

Bruno Guimaraes has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, with Toon teammate Miguel Almiron in the Goal of the Month mix for April after his stunning strike against Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian midfielder has taken the Premier League by storm following his arrival from Lyon in January, bagging three goals and one assist in our last five games – which featured a four-game winning streak.

Speaking of that one assist, it came in the win over Crystal Palace as Guimaraes played a lovely ball over the top for Almiron to latch on to and expertly fire into the top left-hand corner – arguably our best goal of the season.

You can watch all of the GOTM nominations below – featuring Miggy’s moment of magic – and vote here:

Eddie Howe will be thrilled with the deserved recognition of our players’ good form, however he may feel hard done by to miss out on a Manager of the Month nomination, with Mike Jackson (Burnley), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Thomas Frank (Brentford) and Pep Guardiola (Man City) beating him to it.

After all, we won four of our six fixtures in April – losing only to Spurs and Liverpool – and went from relegation contenders to top 10 hopefuls in the space of a month!

With no other club surviving relegation after failing to win any of their first 14 games, Howe’s campaign to get us into this position should bring him into the conversation for manager of the year, let alone the month.

You can vote here for Bruno, who is up against Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus, Liverpool’s Thiago, Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham’s Son Hueng-min, Brighton’s Leandro Trossard and Burnley’s Nathan Collins.
